Cary Fest
Cary Quadball
Field:
Cary Spitzer Courtyard
Equipment:
- 1 Helmet
- One of the following:
- 3 Chalk Sock or Chalk Bolas
- 1 Shield
Objective:
Capture the other teams flag
Description:
The field will be set up like a normal capture the
flag field, or a regular lacrosse field where the goals are replaced by
flag mounts. Teams are made of 6 players which start behind their flag.
Before the match begins players on each team decide which class they
will be: shooter or flag bearer. A shooter begins the round with three
ammo, either chalk socks or chalk bolas. A flag bearer begins the match
with a shield, roughly a square the size of your forearm, and is not
allowed to wield any chalk during the game. The key is that the only
player that can carry the flag is the appropriately named flag bearer
(whereas any player can touch and move his own teams flag, but only to
replace it on the flag mount). Thus there is a dependency of different
classes on each other to win a game. During the match the player
wielded chalk throw their items at opponents in order to remove them
from play. If any player is hit or tagged by chalk, they are removed
from play. A flag bearers shield does not count when considering
"tagged" players.
Competition:
- Matches consist of best 4 out of 7 games.
- Between each game players are allowed to switch their role, shooter or flagbearer.
- Each match has a maximum length of 10 minutes. If, by time or by stalemates there is a tie of games then two players are selected by their teams. These two players select shooter or flag bearer and are set near their flag mounts. However, this extra round is strictly elimination. Only in this extra round does a flag bearer have the ability to tag opponents out. This tagging will only be through a physical tag, not using chalk.
Game Ending Scenarios:
- One team retrieves their opponent's flag and returns it to their own flag area. This results in a win for the team that retrieved the flag.
- Both teams flag bearer players have been tagged out. This ends the match, but does not result in a win for either team nor is the round repeated.
