Cary Con

Kart Club - Cary Racing

Welcome to the Cary Con registration site. This is where all of the registration will be done for every event. If you have any questions please e-mail Nate at ngingeri@purdue.edu.

About the Event

On Saturday, April 19th Cary will hold a tournament of tournaments in the basement of our south building. There will be multiple events covering all different genres of games. All residents from all halls are invited to come participate in this event. This website, created by Cyber View, will also have a detailed description (or link to one) of each game. Each event will have small prizes for the top players; however the big prizes will come from the overall event. After participating in each event, the players get points based on how many opponents are in the event. These points accumulate, and at the end of the day, the players with the most points win the big prizes.

Players of all experience are allowed to play in any events. However, please use the information on this website to look at rules for games that are unfamiliar. Rules for each game will not be explained thoroughly before they start.

Big games, big competition, and big screens.
At Cary Con you will enjoy playing these games on our
wall size projector screens and one of our 65" big screen TVs.

FREE ENTRY: Registering for all events, except Magic the Gathering, is free. Use the gold link below to register. The Magic the Gathering tournament has a $10 entry fee since you will keep your Magic product that you play with. There is a 48 participant maximum on Magic the Gathering as well, so sign up quickly.

How the Tournament Works

During Cary Con you are able to participate in a maximum of four events to earn tournament points. You are limited to one during each section; A 12:00, B 3:00, C 6:00, D 9:00. There are two exception to this rule.

  • If you particpate in Magic the Gathering, which takes up two sections you will still be able to participate in four events. Your fourth event however must be one of the wildcard events to prevent scheduling problems.
  • The Guitar Hero Medley has a qualifying round, in section A, which you will need to participate in if you register for that event in section B. You can still participate in a section A event as long as you do not miss the qualifying activities, so the qualifier does not limit your four event maximum.
Definition of a Wildcard Event: A wildcard has the flexibility to be played at any time during the day. If a particular section doesn't have an event you are interested in you may choose to participate in a Wildcard Event for that section to fill your four event maximum. You may choose to particpate in all three Wildcard Events, and in that case you may choose what order you want to play them. You do not need to specify which section a Wildcard replaces, but DO NOT REGISTER FOR AN EVENT IN THE SECTION THE WILDCARD WILL REPLACE. On the day of the tournament you play the Wildcard during a section you are not registered in.
Point System: Within Cary Con your place in an individual event will earn you a certain amount of points (based on the total number of players in the event). Then at the end of the day each player’s totals will be added up and the elite five will get prizes from the tournament prize structure list. Therefore, choose your best events and participate in four events to have the best chance at winning prizes.

  • Magic the Gathering: Players will get to keep the product they play with as their individual event prize. Players will still be awarded overall tournament points normally.
